Roasted Beets

Roasting a vegetable brings out a sweetness.  Since beets have a high sugar content,  they caramelize nicely.  You must use high heat to get the proper effect.

Ingredients
Fresh beets
Kosher salt
black pepper
olive oil

Non-standard Supplies
None

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450
  2. Peel and slice beets
  3. Drizzle with olive oil
  4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper
  5. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet
  6. Bake in oven until fork tender.
